    Assessment 1 - Define project
    The assessment task is due on the date specified by your assessor. Any variations to this arrangement must be approved in writing by your assessor.
    Submit this document with any required evidence attached. See specifications below for details.
    Candidates will demonstrate knowledge and skills required to define projects and develop project plans.

    Assessment description

    Using an organisation you are familiar with, such as the organisation where you are currently or have previously been employed, or college that you are currently study, identify a project that would contribute to achieving the goals, objectives and/or operations of the organisation.
    This may be based on an actual project that you have been involved in, or an example of a project that would be relevant to this scenario.
    You can choose any of the following projects or discuss with your teacher a project you would like to do.
    1. Building extension to a restaurant
    2. Find a new market to sell your product or introduce a new product line
    3. Market Research competitors
    4. Moving office from one location to another
    5. Open a new office in a new state
    6. Renovation of existing office

    Procedure

           1.       Determine project scope. Develop appropriate initiation and scope documents for discussion with Operations General Manager (the assessor).
           2.       Define project stakeholders.
           3.       Determine resources and access to resources.
           4.       Determine how you will engage and manage stakeholders to achieve project objectives. Develop communication and stakeholder management plans for discussion.
           5.       Identify personal responsibilities and reporting requirements.

     

    You must submit:

    Develop a detailed scope document, which will form part of the project plan. Your project scope document should have the following sections:
    Project Parameters
    ·         Project description
    ·         Project purpose (include details on how it relates to the organisation's objectives and other projects)
    ·         Project outcomes and deliverables
    Project Resources
    ·         Details of project resources required (human resources, physical resources, financial)
    ·         Resource availability 

    ·         Identify personal responsibilities and reporting requirements.
    Stakeholders
    ·         The project manager and their role and limits of their responsibility and authority
    ·         External stakeholders
    ·         Determine how you will engage and manage stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
    ·         Develop communication and stakeholder management plans for discussion.

    PROJECT SCOPE
    Project Sponsor: David Smith, General Manager Project Name: Office Renovation
    Scope: The objective of this project is to refurbish the 100m² office space.
    Constraints:
    ·  Cost not to exceed $21,000
    ·  To be completed within 2 weeks
    ·  Site work is limited to Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:00 pm
