    Details of Task: Your task is to write an argumentative essay addressing the following statement, drawing from concepts and theories discussed so far this semester. 
    "HRM is a strategic tool that gives an organisation a competitive advantage over their rivals."
     Guidelines for the essay:
    ·         You will need to do a review of the literature on the relationship between HRM and organisational performance.
    ·         You should use the academic third person writing style as outlined in the Q Manual.
    ·         It is important that you use peer reviewed academic journal articles for the basis of your academic discussion. You should be aiming to draw on at least 10 refereed journal articles. You need to ensure that you make it clear how the content and contribution of these articles is related to the essay question.
    ·         No more than 2 textbooks to be used.
    ·         Warning! Answers that simply reflect opinion and do not draw on the accumulated body of scientific knowledge on HRM will be penalised.
    Word limit:  1500 words (+/- 10%)
    Presentation requirements: Essay format is required. Please refer to the Q manual for formatting and presentation requirements. More details can be found on the Moodle site. 
    Estimated return date: Marked assignment will be returned within 2 weeks through Moodle
    Hurdle requirements: N/A
    Criteria for marking: Marking rubric is available from the Moodle site 
    Learning objectives assessed: This assessment is designed to test learning objectives 1,3, and 5
    Submission details: NOTE there is a two (2) part electronic submission process.
     
    Part 1: Submit a draft of your essay to Turnitin to obtain an originality report. This version is not expected to be appropriately formatted, and will just be used to check text-matching (acceptable limit <=15%). If you have any major issues where you have not referenced or quoted correctly, you need to correct this prior to the final submission deadline.
    This submission is not the formal submission, as you will need to then;
     
    Part 2: Submit the final essay, appropriately formatted, through the Moodle Assignment link. This assignment submission will be marked.
    NOTE: Any submission that does not adhere to the submission requirements above will incur a penalty. 
    Penalties for late lodgement: A penalty of 10 out of 100 marks will be deducted for each day that the assessment is late.
    Students should note that a weekend is 2 days and will be treated as such when penalties are calculated. After 10 days overdue, assignments will be accepted but will not be given a mark.
